Cacao for a Causethis is cacao, as it should be

Bounty of nature, desired by gods, for you to enjoy. Whole fermented beans, stone ground for hours and sun dried the old way — nothing pressed out, nothing added.

We buy direct from small family farms at above market price, know the growers by name, and lab test every lot. Every packet carries the hillside, the harvest and the family behind it.

How we buy

We know the hands that grew it

We are a social enterprise — trade is the tool, the growing communities are the point. Every batch comes straight from a small farm we visit ourselves — bought direct, paid above market, one harvest at a time. And every lot carries a number on the label you can look up to see its real lab certificate.

No brokers
We buy direct from small family farms — no international middleman taking a cut of their harvest.
We pay more
Above market price, every harvest, because good cacao takes care and the people growing it deserve it.
Names, not codes
We know our farmers, their families, their children's names. We stay in personal contact all year.
Many varieties
We seek out different cacao varieties from different regions, so each lot tastes like where it grew.

The difference

Raw cacao, or Dutch-processed cocoa?

Almost every cocoa on a supermarket shelf has been alkalised — washed with alkali salts to darken the colour and flatten the taste. It also removes most of what people drink cacao for.
